about

I tried to release a version of this lyric on my last album, "Purify," which I released for free on my SoundCloud, but the original file was lost in a dead hard drive. I made a new track, and am releasing these lyrics here and now.

Raw and simple, I aimed for maximum sonic impact in this track, and I do consider it to be the heaviest on the album. It opens up with a sample from Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who in his indictment of it's blood-soaked history exclaimed the phrase "God damn America! That's in the bible! For killing innocent people!"

Throughout the track I vent my frustration about the ever-violent racism and sexism which seems inherent to American culture. The first verse deals with police brutality, sexual assault, as well as the societal attitudes and systems that enables the first two.

It contains a brief sample from the 1998 movie Lost in Space

lyrics

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible, for killing innocent people, God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

Faces fade into the dark
Brutal sins brought to light
The system threw them to the deep
Honor has become their blight

Wasted manhood, petrified,
Weaponized and rectified
Strips the honor from her life
Deaf ears and blind eyes

Death tolls and Gender roles,
Fools who regulate the polls
Freedom lost and rights burned
Thoughts and prayers, your favorite words

Riots rise, and justice falls,
How dare you muster up the gall,
Your judgement, your lofty talk,
Your sermons and the plague you've brought!

Violation, degradation,
The pigment based annihilation!
Fake justice, crushing weight,
These are the days of hate!

The rapes ignored, the arrogance,
Your ever-ignorant denizens
Your messiah came too late,
These are the days of hate!
